Job Summary
Sycamore Communications is looking for an experienced PR Account Manager – Director to join the small business at a time of rapid expansion. The candidate will be responsible for managing client relationships, developing and executing public relations strategies for a range of B2B and B2C companies and social enterprises, from start-ups to multi-million pound businesses.
Experience working with the media will be essential to success in this role. It’s expected to have a deep understanding of how the media works, including what stories they’re interested in and how to pitch clients’ stories to them.
The candidate will take ownership of daily responsibilities of responding to incoming ResponseSource journalist enquiries, outlet research and proactive pitching, managing media relations, influencer management, with Crisis Communications experience a bonus.
The appointment will play a crucial role in contributing to the agency’s continued growth, freeing Founder Hannah Viney up to focus on marketing, product and service development plus new business management.
Candidates will display a desire to make a real difference to our clients, most often family-run businesses where our PR exposure has a massive personal impact.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement PR campaigns that align with clients’ objectives and target audiences
- Write press releases, media pitches, and other communication materials
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers
- Manage and coordinate events, such as press conferences, product launches, and media tours
- Provide strategic counsel to clients and manage client expectations
- Manage budgets and timelines for client campaigns
- Monitor and analyse media coverage and provide regular reports to clients
- Attend client meetings, manage agendas and ensure follow-up action points are completed
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and media developments
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or a related field
- Proven experience as a PR Account Manager, with a track record of successful campaigns
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Can-do, open-minded and ‘get stuck in’ attitude
- Proficiency in using Response Source, Vuelio, CMS systems, Canva, Social Media platforms
- Ability to stay on top of latest news, business affairs, trending topics and celebrities/influencers
- Expertise in Crisis Communications management a bonus
